Texas Pintos


  • 1 Pound Dreid Pinto Beans
  • 2lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Large Onion (Chopped)
  • 1 Whole Jalapeno Peppers (Diced)
  • 2 Cans Rotel Tomatoes (Use either original, hot or mild)
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic (Minced)
  • 1 Pack Taco Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Chili Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt and Pepper


The night before pour beans in bowl and check for rocks. Then rinse with water. Add enough water to cover beans plus a couple of inches and let sit over night. If not cooking beans untill later in the day add additional water.
Drain water and put beans in deep 1-gallon pot. Add 1.5 quarts water and turn heat to medium high and bring it to a boil then turn down to medium heat.
Brown meat and drain add onion and garlic, cook onion till soft and add ingredients to beans along with seasoning and diced peppers, canned tomatoesand (salt and pepper).
Beans can be eaten as a side dish or over a baked potatoe or hotdogs; this dish is almost like a chili.
